NewsActive Mobility wins fight to keep 5-year-old girl mobile

For the past three months, Destiny Day, 5, has been confined to her home. Her medical condition, Pompe Disease, had weakened her muscles to the point where she needed a power wheelchair. Destiny’s parents were not be able to afford the $26,000 power chair that would ensure their daughter’s mobility and independence.  Unfortunately, upon filing for the necessary equipment, Medicaid denied their request, leaving Destiny without the necessary equipment for safe and independent accessibility.
