VGM Group, in partnership with the Waterloo Community Foundation, has awarded six $1,500 scholarships to dependents of VGM Group employees. This year’s recipients are:
- Benjamin Carter of Cedar Falls High School, son of John Carter, VGM & Associates
- Clare Johnson of Waukee High School, daughter of Ryan Johnson, Two Rivers Marketing
- Edward Lin of Cedar Falls High School, son of Sunshine Yang, Corporate IT
- Gatlin McCumber of New Hampton High School, son of Rhonda McCumber, VGM & Associates
- Ella Ubben of Cedar Falls High School, daughter of Cassi Price, VGM Forbin
- Josiah Wendland of Waterloo West High School, son of Christopher Wendland, Management Services
“At VGM, we believe that supporting our employee owners also involves supporting their loved ones,” said VGM Chief People Officer Sara Laures. “By providing these students with this scholarship, we are not only supporting them financially, but we are supporting their education and their career goals.”
Annually, VGM awards multiple $1,500 scholarships to high school senior dependents of current employees with a minimum 3.0 GPA who are pursuing a post-secondary education. While many applied, only six were chosen with assistance from the Waterloo Community Foundation. Selection criteria included involvement in their community, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, and personal essays.
“The Waterloo Community Foundation is proud to partner with VGM’s scholarship program to recognize students pursuing their educational goals.,” said Sam Holden, board president of Waterloo Community Foundation. “We are grateful to VGM and their leadership team for investing in the next generation of leaders.”
